I won’t go into detail about the unpleasant types of germs and bacteria found on headset voice tubes and ear cushions or desk phones, but simply point out that they themselves must be maintained on a regular basis to avoid health and hygiene concerns in the workplace. Not only that, but it will also ensure greater longevity for your headsets and equipment.

Here's what we suggest:

  1. Sharing headsets is not advisable, every user should be provided with a headset for their own dedicated use.
  2. Leatherette or foam ear cushions should be replaced every time a new person uses the headset
  3. Mic covers or voice tubes should be replaced every time a new person uses the headset.
  4. Leatherette or foam ear cushions should be replaced every 6 months or sooner if clogged with makeup or otherwise soiled. Same goes for mic covers or voice tubes
  5. Headset plastics, desk phones etc should be cleaned on a regular basis using anti-bacterial wipes, especially when assigned to new users.
